Grant was actually participating with Sarah Jane this morning spelling his name and tonight he wanted to do homework. So I gave him a paper with his name for him to trace. He actually cooperated and wanted to do more. Gracie and I screamed and high-fived him every time he wrote a letter. Then he wrote the whole thing! I am so proud!!! Check out his first name writing (it is the letters in the squares at the top).
When we were working with Grant Gracie said, "I remember when I first wrote my name. We were sitting in the wood hallway at the old house." She is EXACTLY right! I can't believe she remembers that!
Grant was so proud to call mom and dad and tell Daddy when he got home and spell his name! G-R-A-N-T!
I will confess by the time we were on "A" I had to bribe him with a toy to finish the name. I have said it before, "that monkey don't do tricks!" Once he realizes that you want him to do something it is OVER! Which is SOOOOO different from Gracie at 3. When she realized she had an audience she turned it up a notch. Not Grant. He stops and just starts acting like a goofball.
Another funny thing he said today...Last week for the egg hunt I pulled out a pink golf shirt that was a hand-me-down from Ross for him to wear. He freaked out and said pink is for girls and wouldn't wear it - and his Daddy didn't help at all by telling him he was right. Well tonight (a week later) he said, "Hey Mom, I have an idea (I know something good is coming when it starts with 'I have an idea') for next Easter, let's just give that pink shirt back to Rossy and he can have it to wear. I don't like pink shirts, they are for girls."
The other after effect from Easter weekend is that we had to say goodbye to the duck and chick. He was so sad! Sarah Jane took them to her friend on Thursday and asked him if he wanted to say goodbye. He went over and said goodbye to each of them. Then he walked to the couch, sat down and fell apart. His little lip went out and he started to cry the most sincere heart broken tears. I felt horrible! I told him all the stuff about they'll be happier on the farm etc. But nothing helped until I told him we'd get more next year for the preschool. Then he was happy. First thing this morning he asked if we were going to get the new duck and chick today. It is going to be long year!
