Gracie is at the beach with her buddy Avery so it was just the 3 of us today. We stayed home because I could tell we overdid it yesterday. Grant was MUCH better today! He didn't complain of any leg pain and did great with his brace. We told him if he didn't complain all day (he has to wear his brace if the sun is shining) that we'd go to Hollywood Connection and Zoo City.
We went up to the school this afternoon and met with the Vice Principal, his teacher and para pro, the nurse and the Pre-K coordinator. It was a great meeting and they are happy to help make Grant (and us) comfortable in Pre K. They thought of a few questions that I didn't have answers for. Like, would it be better for long walks to put him in a stroller or wagon or should they make him walk. I don't know that answer. I called and they sent me to the Ortho dr, Dr. Fabergas. I left a message for him and we'll see.
We got word today that his CT scan is not a cranial CT, but rather of all his organs, especially his lungs. AND it is moved to Monday. So we go for that Monday and for the bone scan on Friday. We'll be able to pick up his turtle shell on Monday too. That is good because I'd like him to start school with his cool new brace so that the other kids can get used to it without changing it often.
I also did all kinds of research about the Histiocytosis online. If you're interested there are some good videos on You Tube. Search "LCH 1 of 7" and it will pull up Dr. Ken McClain of Texas Children's Hospital. He is definitely the foremost expert on this disease. There is also a great website with good info at http://www.histio.org/.
After the school we went to Aflac where Grant got to visit his new best friend, Mr. Sam and all Daddy's friends that have been praying for him so much. He really showed his goofy self to all of them and they got a kick out of seeing all his goofy-ness. Then we took the little goofball to Chucky Cheese's because he decided that would be more fun than Hollywood Connection. On the way he was telling me how much he misses Elvis, "you know he's dead." I swear, the boy never shuts up! He had a great time. Then to Fudrucker's for dinner. Well...he acted up at dinner and we had to cancel the Zoo City trip. Darn, I was so looking forward to that! We went by Sanctuary where I got the new Nicole C. Mullen cd, I added a great Psalm 91 song to the favorite songs to the left. That Psalm has really been one of hope and comfort lately.
As I type he is telling goofy stories. One of them that has been going on all day is about the band he is going to start. It is quite the rock band. He has his sister's water bottle and is making his hair spikey for the band. He said Daddy is the drummer and he is a drummer and a singer. He will write all the songs. He said Daddy's hair wasn't cool enough to be in the band though and that I can only be one of the girls who likes us. Great, I'm a groupie. I haven't been a groupie since Bon Jovi in 1989! He said all the girls on the side have to be pretty girls who put lotion and make up on them. No lotion or make up today...hmm...guess I'm out.
