Finished!

18 months of chemo is OVER! We are so happy that this journey could be at its end. Yes, we know it could come back. I worried for the last few months that I wouldn't be able to celebrate. I really worried that I couldn't let my guard down enough to rejoice in this good news. While I knew that this WAS good news, I just don't want to get my hopes up. But you know, God has a way of working things out in just the right timing. I woke up last Monday really excited about today and stopping treatment. So I went ahead and quickly planned a party. Where else should all 5 year old celebrations be held, but at Chuck E Cheese's?!?! He invited his 6 best buds and Gracie invited their siblings. We were really looking forward to it and even Grant knew that this was possibly just a break from medicine for awhile. But regardless, we are all ready to celebrate.
At the beginning of this journey we took Grant to Chuck E Cheese's one night to distract ourselves from what we might be facing. I realized tonight that this was the last time I was at Chuck E Cheese's. That made the party even better in the chaos that is Chuck E Cheese's! Everytime I would see him happily playing with his friends, I would remember the feelings we had that night and the fear we had for his little body. All better.
Look back through the posts and you will see one last year of Grant sitting in this same little car (8/1/08). Without the 100's of courage beads around his neck and without the hero shirt. He is full of courage and is our hero. We are finished and I am not worried, but hopeful tonight, that we ARE FINISHED!
