Sweet Sissy off at Camp

Gracie will be spending the weekend at Camp Sunshine's Sibling Camp. This is her second year attending this wonderful camp for siblings of those in her brother's shoes. I don't know if it is their ages or the personalities more, but Gracie has dealt with her brother's illness much more than he has. As you saw from the story she wrote a few weeks ago. It amazes me that she is so brave to go. She didn't know a soul there last year and wanted to go. This year she gave up missing 2 swim practices, a sleepover and fun tennis event and her first tennis team practice to go.
I drove her to the Sunshine House to catch the bus and we were excited to see a boy from her school there. We have met them before at Sunshine events and were so glad he was coming this weekend. There was also a little girl who has a sister with a very similar LCH story there. It is an interesting little club (really unfortunately, not so little) that she has found herself in. I am so thankful for things like this camp and SuperSibs that have helped her so much.
So today, while I sit in a quiet house, Gracie is joining in an African drum circle, hosting a radio show on the camp radio station, water sliding, playing tennis, boating, doing archery and bringing home some wonderful artwork. Grant and Chad spent the night at the hunting land and are working up there today. He was so excited to tell me last night that he ate deer and liked it. Gross, but ok, guess it's a hunting land thing. Greg cooks things and Chad eats them. I cook them and he doesn't. I think it's the environment. I think I'll go shopping! Baby needs new shoes don't cha know?
Please pray for the Batten family today. They were so excited a less than a month ago for Haley (LCH and JXG)to start the process for her bone marrow transplant, which was to be done this week and this morning they are laying her body to rest. Again, my heart breaks for these grieving families and I clutch my own heart when I am reminded how quickly this life changes. Thank you Lord for this day.
