We had a great weekend with Mimi and Pop Pop here. Wet thanks to hurricane Fay...but fun. Tonight was the Hallelujah Ho-down/ Halle-palluza / Southern Gospel music program at the church. We have been looking forward to this for a long time and were so glad that Mimi and Pop Pop decided to stay tonight and come with us. It was a great program and we were so blessed by our choir, orchestra (good job Daddy) and Al and Pashion Lewis. We heard right before the program that our dear friend Lori had died. We still can't believe that she is gone and don't want to believe it. But the choir started with "oh when the saints" It sounded great - but let me tell you, I know Lori heard that song at the same time and while our choir is awesome - the heavenly angels that sang it for her sounded even better.
Al and Pashion are friends of our sweet Ken's and they came to share their talents with us. They were great! Grant spent the entire program wiggling and saying the music was too loud. After we were filing out and next thing I knew he was talking to Al. I thought he was probably telling him the music was too loud. Well, I walked up and he said, "My name is Grant (he was asked to repeat it a few times because he was unclear) then he said, My back hurts and I want you to pray for it!" I know that this was a God moment and somehow Grant had some connection to him. There have been 100's of people that have prayed for his back. Not one time has he even wanted or listened to those prayers. He usually tells people to stop. But he sought this man out and asked him to pray. Then it was like, "I'll wait...go ahead." So sure enough, Al began to pray for him there in the aisle of the sanctuary. Grant said thank you and gave him a hug and that was the end of that. We think that he doesn't understand the gravity of what is going on and what he's up against until moments like that. Thank you Al for your sweet prayer and for hearing his heart.
I was touched by another God thing today too. Mary Thompson stopped me in the hall before church and asked about Grant. Those of you that don't know Ms. Mary are missing out. She is such a treasure. She is about 4'10 and full of spunk! She is always ready with a cheesy joke and a smile. Now that I think of it I remember Chad telling me this, but I had forgotten. The night of the prayer service for Grant, Mary could visibly see Grant's bones and there was nothing wrong with them. She said she felt the spirit of God so strong that night and she knew that he may have come into that sanctuary with cancer, but she knew at that moment it was gone. She also is claiming that his bones are healing! She shared that with Chad that evening, and he shared with me later. I was in such a fog I didn't remember hearing it until today. I really needed to hear that today. It is so hard to watch him run and play and be so full of life and realize that his body is fighting such a monster. What a comfort to know that he's on the mend! Thank you Mary and praise God!
Please pray for Richard, Tabitha and Jeff. They went home to their home without the heart of their home tonight and I cannot fathom the pain. While it is so true that Lori is rejoicing and free of pain finally, Richard, Tab and Jeff are certainly not.
