Maybe Wednesday

We have a definite appointment with radiology on Wednesday 12/10 at 7:30 for a skeletal survey (x-ray of every bone) and a CT scan of his back. Then we are tentatively scheduled for the "pic team" to implant his pic line after the scans. But that may change. Either way, after he has the line placed, we'll go to the clinic, be trained on how to clean it and get the supplies (she keeps talking about the supplies, it is making me nervous that this is a big deal) and then he will receive his first infusion the same day. Pray that he handles it well. The side effects, as with any drug, run the gamut. Everything from nausea to sterility and hair loss. We'll just have to see.
Needless to say we are very anxious and very focused on getting him better. He stayed home from school today because after church last night he had giant bags under his eyes. He is SO TIRED. So he rested today. He went to work with me and watched movies. He was able to go to Jump Bunch with the preschoolers. We didn't have that last year when he was with us. He LOVED it! It was fun for me too to have him there. But he came home and slept for 4 hours. I am blaming the sinus infection and the rainy weather. But I think we need to prepare for a whole new ballgame.

Our conversation tonight at the dinner table:

ME: Luke, did you see Mrs. Melanie today?
LUKE: Yep.
ME: Did you know that she has a little boy, too?
LUKE: What's his name?
ME: His name is Grant. He gets sick sometimes.
LUKE: We need to pray for him.
ME: Let's do that tonight before bedtime, ok?
LUKE: No, we do it now.

So, we all dropped our forks and Luke led our entire family in a short simple prayer for Grant.

Dear Jesus, Please help Mrs. Melanie's little boy feel better. In Your name, Amen.

When he opened his eyes, he looked at me and said, "Mommy, why you crying?".

Grant was prayed for tonight by a little boy who trusts that Jesus hears our every need.

Thanks Jawan. Remind Luke that Grant is the one he did yoga with at Jumpbunch yesterday. They were the really some of the only ones that did it. The others just wanted to lay on the mats! Ask him to do the butterfly, the shark and the lion for you. I think he'll remember those.
I am overcome with appreciation reguarly lately involving those interceding for us. Especially the kids. I can't help but think that God has to perk his "ears" more when he hears a prayer like Luke's. Thanks for sharing and thanks even more for praying.

Although a pic line sounds scary-I had one for 6 weeks a couple of years ago. All of the "supplies" are really just the medicine, the flush syringes, alcohol pads, tape, etc. The biggest hassle is not getting the area wet. I am so so so sorry that he has to go through this. He is a strong brave little boy. All of this struggle will make him a strong, determined man.

OMG Melanie! I had no idea! I was just thinking last Saturday that I hadn't looked at your blog lately and needed to, but then didn't. The first I knew about all this was when Shannon announced it on Sunday morning. I am praying HARD for all of you, and especially for healing for sweet little Grant's body.

We all love you all so much!
