I still can't believe that she is NINE! That is just so big. I remember nine. It was my favorite age. That is why until both our kids were born on the 14th, 9 was always my favorite number. Especially because when you are nine it is all about having a favorite number!
She had a good day. She woke to presents and her favorite for breakfast (grits and bacon). Sweet Emma called to wish her a happy birthday before school. The presents weren't much because she had already received her new North Face jacket for her birthday that we gave her early. She got some books, some clothes and Grant got her some clothes for her Build a Bear monkey, Lilly. After school we did some homework and then headed to church. Some may think that having her birthday on church day was a problem. Not for Gracie. All her best friends are there! Plus we sing Happy Birthday at dinner. She loved that! Then we had cupcakes after choir. I was giving out invites for her birthday party next week and realized that her best friends are all from church. Of her 13 invitations, she gave 9 to kids at church. They are the kind of friends she'll have for years.
Gracie is such a special girl. She is so fun, so friendly, so helpful and loving to her brother. While she can make me straight up crazy - she is OUR BIG GIRL!!!!

I love the thought of growing old in her shadow..
It is exciting to watch her grow. She is so great with her brother, and the best part is that she would be the same sister no matter his health condition.
