I thought I'd go ahead and take this while he's still asleep. The port is lower because the dr thinks it is better to put them up against the sternum to keep it more still. He also said some kids get uptight about moving their shoulder if it is there. I think that is a smart move. Grant won't use his arm for a couple hours after blood work; he'd certainly be funny about his shoulder.
It sticks out from his chest about a quarter inch and is about to size of a quarter. It is kinda freaky, but I'm sure we will get used to it The tube you see won't always be there. It has to be 'accessed' with a needle for treatment or whatever. So this is what it looks like after it is accessed. They did it while he was asleep. We will have to cross the acessing bridge with him next week. The Child Life Specialist is going to talk to him and try to ease that anxiety this afternoon. He met with her and her doll with a port this morning to see what he was going to wake up with. Now we'll start talking about accessing it and the needle.

I can hardly stand it. What a sweet little trooper he is.
Kiss those fat little cheeks for me.lots and lots of kisses.
His hair looks like fur.
I'm glad this part of the whole deal is over.
I'm so happy to have found your blog tonight. I think of you guys often and pray for Grant. I hope everything's going okay! I will definitely have to spend some time reading all the updates.
Thanks for the link to my site too! I feel so special! :)
